The
Arab-Israeli War of 1973, also known as the Yom Kippur War or the Ramadan War,
was a war between Israel on one side and Egypt and Syria on the other
side. It was the fourth major military confrontation between Israel and
the Arab states. The surprise attack on two fronts from Egypt and Syria began
on October 6, 1973 (10 Tishrì 5734; 9 Ramadan 1393), which was Yom
Kippur, the holiest day of the year for the Jewish people, during the month of
Ramadan, the holiest month for the Muslim people.

Questo input, vale a dire il riferimentoad una guerra cui i TG ci hanno abituato con notizie frammentarie e per lo più tendenziose, ci ha permesso di aprire nuove finestre sul mondo, cioé sulle connessioni o millantate tali fra guerre e religioni. Il conflitto palestinese-israeliano ha radici recenti (il crollo dell'impero ottomano per opera soprattutto degli inglesi) e molto lontane nel tempo (la distruzione dello stato di Israele nel 70 d.C.).
